Basic Research Forum

The Basic Research Forum aims to increase the Department's awareness of the wide range of basic research conducted or funded by DoD research organizations and laboratories. The audience typically includes leadership, program officers, and technical staff from the Office of the Secretary of Defense and DoD research organizations (ARO, AFOSR, ONR, DTRA, DARPA). On occasion, individuals from other federal agencies, National Labs and academic institutions also attend.  Presentations are aimed at a technical but not specialized audience, and cover a depth and breadth similar to that of an academic colloquium.

Goals of the Forum are to:

  • Increase the awareness of specific research areas of interest to the DoD
  • Highlight trends, challenges, and opportunities in those areas
  • Provide the Office of the Secretary of Defense with a deeper understanding of where the science is moving
  • Build connections between individuals from different DoD organizations
  • Spark discussion among participants

The event is held weekly in Arlington, VA.  Attendance is by invitation only, please contact us for more information.
