Two DoD funded researchers were recently honored by the IEEE Nanotechnology Council. Dr. Engheta, professor at the University of Pennsylvania, was awarded the 2018 IEEE Nanotechnology Council Pioneer Award in Nanotechnology for his contributions to photonic metamaterials and optical nanocircuits. He is also a 2016 Vannevar Bush Fellow pursing the development of materials for the extreme manipulation of light, sound, and heat.
Dr. Can Baytam of the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign was awarded the 2018 IEEE Nanotechnology Early Career Award for his contributions to quantum devices. Dr. Bayram is also in the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) Young Investigator Program.
