Milind Tambe a Minerva-funded researcher and his research team at Harvard Johnson A. Paulson and Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) in collaboration with Harvard Medical School and MIT developed a model to simulate the impact of different physical distancing strategies on the spread of SARS-CoV2, the virus that caused COVID-19. The researchers found that age-specific shelter in place policies may be just as effective as population-wide shelter in place policies—as long as everyone not sheltering in place also practices safe physical distancing.
