Kathleen M. Carley, a Minerva-funded researcher who leads the research team at Carnegie Mellon University has been tracking disinformation spreading about the virus over social media platforms since the beginning of the year. Carley was quoted in the recent article, “Why Uncertainty about Coronavirus Breeds Opportunity for Misinformation”. The article quotes Carley on what types of misinformation surrounding the virus are most common, why we are more susceptible to misinformation right now, and how to share information about COVID-19 responsibly.
