The American Academy of Arts and Sciences, founded by John Adams, John Hancock, and James Bowdoin during the American Revolution, is an honorary society dedicated to the advancement of important societal, scientific, and intellectual issues. This year, Dr. Ivan Schuller will join the Academy’s 2018 Class of Fellows.
Dr. Schuller is a Professor of Physics at the University of California, San Diego, and has been awarded numerous accolades for his work on materials, superconductivity, and magnetism, among others. He is also a 2015 Vannevar Bush Fellow pursing a new paradigm for synthesizing materials with properties that do not exist in nature.
